Is Sam Bradford's Pro Day Good News for Tampa Bay Buccaneer Fans?

Tom EdringtonMar 29, 2010

The kid was pretty darn good.

Unofficial counts have former Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford putting in a pretty impressive pro day Monday in Soonerland.

Bradford reportedly completed 49 of 50 passes he threw to hand-picked receivers.

That had to get the attention of the St. Louis Rams and it could be decent news for fans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in an offseason that thus far hasn't given them much to get excited about.

Oh yes, there was the "stop the presses" moment on Monday when the Bucs announced they have resigned free agent linebacker Angelo Crowell, who was paid $2.5 million of the Glazers' dollars to do absolutely nothing last season while he snoozed on the injured reserve list.

No doubt Josh Freeman is also overjoyed with the signing of some restricted free agent receiver named Mark Bradley, also resigned on Monday by the Bucs.

But Bradford's workout might bolster the Rams' desire to make him the first pick in the draft next month.

That would leave the door wide open for the Pewter Pirates to be in a position to select man-beasts Gerald McCoy or Ndamukong Suh with that third overall pick.

Strong Note to Bucs Fans:
They'll be in that position if they keep the third pick. If another team is totally in love with either of those two defensive tackles, no doubt the Bucs will hear offers for the third pick and given the impending contract of such a pick, don't be surprised if the Bucs cannot fight the urge to trade down and acquire even more draft picks.
