2010 CBI Tournament Championship Preview: VCU vs. St. Louis
The NIT is nearly an afterthought this time of year, so what does that make the College Basketball Invitational Tournament? Well, if you did not keep tabs on the CBI, and chances are you didn't, you may not know that the championship of the third-year tournament begins tonight at 7:00 P.M. EST and will air on HDNet.
Virginia Commonwealth (28-9, 11-7 Colonial) hosts St. Louis University (26-11, 11-5 Atlantic-10) in the opener of a three-game series. St. Louis will host Game Two and, if necessary, Game Three.
Rick Majerus is in his third season as St. Louis head coach and has led his Billikens to a 60-40 overall record. St. Louis defeated Indiana State in the opening round before taking down Wisconsin-Green Bay in the quarterfinals and Princeton in the semifinals.

Virginia Commonwealth took out George Washington in the opening round. The Rams followed that victory with wins over College of Charleston in the quarterfinals and Boston University in the semifinals.
This series may come down to the quality of St. Louis' defense. The Billikens average just 63.6 points per game while the Rams rip off 76.4 points per game.
