Showing Some Class in a Class of Their Own

Isn't it funny how every time the SEC plays, we have to hear a million and one stories of why the SEC is the superior college football conference, even though they are dominated by the ACC in the NFL?

I have never heard of a group of people that root for a conference over an actual team! How often do you come across a group of people screaming GO SUN BELT CONFERENCE! Scream Florida Gators, scream Auburn Tigers, or scream Razorbacks, but for crying out loud, do not scream GO SEC!

When it comes to basketball, the ACC owns 11 national championships, Pac-10: 15, and the Big 10 has 10 national championships. But do any of them boast about their superiority?

Absolutely not! They brag of their school's dominance, but they never make it a purpose to all wear ACC shirts on Saturdays when the family watches the Duke-St. John's game at Wild Wings Cafe. It's dumb! Do you see my point here?

There is nothing wrong with a little pride in the rigor of your conference schedule, but let's not forget that it does nothing but gives you an excuse for finishing 2-10, sorry Vanderbilt.

This is another reason for a playoff system: to put to rest this nonsense of conference supremacy. While we all know the SEC has some good teams in Bama, Florida, UGA, and LSU, but how many people could've beaten that USC team with Rey Maualuga, Brian Cushing, Clay Mathews Jr., Mark Sanchez, Damian Williams, and Everson Griffen?

All that aside, I just want the SEC fans to shut up about their conference because if you're a UGA fan, I sure hope you're not okay with 'Bama and Florida finishing atop of the east and west, while leaving you to duel it out in the ever-so-suspenseful Independence Bowl.

Be a real fan and choose one team at a time. And just to think, with all this conference pride, it's making me miss the front-runners: USC fans five years ago, Gator fans two years ago, and now "life long" Crimson Tide fans.

Take a note from the ACC, Big 10, and Pac 10: if you're a member of the SEC faithful, don't brag about your league; because like it always does, the powers of football will soon shift and you'll look like idiots if you're still bragging about your conference and the powerhouse has shifted back to the Big 10 or Big 12.
