Man. United: Handed Another Gift As Robben Is A Major Doubt For First Leg Tie

Breaking News!

Manchester United have just signed Bolton Wanderers defender Jlloyd Samuel to play upfront for them.

The above statement is of course fictitious, but if you were to watch the Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United game, you would wonder if that statement had an element of truth behind it.

After Alex Ferguson and Manchester United regained their position on the top of the table beating Bolton 4-0, without Wayne Rooney, they received another gift by hearing that Arjen Robben is a major doubt for the first leg Champions League encounter in Munich.

Ferguson said that Bayern Munich's wingers, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, were the two biggest threats that the German team posed to his side. And now there is a major possibility that the Dutch winger will have to sit out Tuesday's encounter.

Robben started on the bench for Bayern Munich as they took on Stuttgart in Bundesliga. The Dynamic Dutchman was brought into the fray early in the second half but picked up a calf injury in a losing battle.

Not only did Bayern lose the top spot in the German league due to their 2-1 defeat, but there is a major possibility that they will be without the services of Robben, which will heavily inhibit Bayern's attack.

Bayern Munich manager Louis Van Gaal said, "Maybe it will turn out not to be that bad, but it looks difficult for the match against Manchester United."

Manchester United's first gift of the day was handed to them in the 37th minute of their game against Bolton Wanderers.

Bolton's centre back Jlloyd Samuel practiced his finishing by sliding Ryan Giggs' cross passed his own keeper and getting United on their way to a 4-0 victory.

Bolton were holding strong up until that point, as Manchester United had done very little as far as goal-scoring chances were concerned.

The entire complex of the game shifted after Samuel netted yet another OG in United's favour.

It was a routine goal kick that United goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar launched just inside the Bolton half.

Dimitar Berbatov flicked the goal kick on with his head. United winger Nani helped the ball into Ryan Giggs' path, who then watched Jlloyd Samuel slot his cross into the bottom corner of his own net.

That goal was Manchester United's 11th OG of the season scored in their favor, which is more than double the previous Premier League record.

Dimitar Berbatov went on to score two goals after the Bolton own goal to take his tally up to twelve for the season. But prior to Berbatov's brace, United's second leading goalscorer was OGs.

Alex Ferguson watched Chelsea shred Aston Villa at Stafford Bridge, without top goal-scorer Didier Drogba playing.

He would have also witnessed a fluke goal take two points from Arsenal in injury time in their contest against Birmingham City.

But none of the above would have surprised Alex Ferguson more than how his side's first of four goals was scored against Bolton.

And none of the above would delight the Scot more than to face Bayern Munich without their Dutch winger.
