Georges St-Pierre, I'm Not Impressed By Your Performance!

Jessy MorrisMar 28, 2010

When you're considered to be one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, you're expected to deliver. Last night at UFC 111, Georges St-Pierre didn't deliver all the hype he was talking about before the fight.

Georges wanted to be dominant, beat up Hardy and finish him off. He told us he would be the best version of GSP we've seen so far. Last night, GSP didn't fight Dan Hardy, he wrestled him. The loss to Matt Serra at UFC 69 seems to have caused more pain mentally than physically.

Since then, Georges hasn't been relying on his stand-up skills as much (which are great by the way) and quite honestly, has become boring. The dominance he showed against Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves wasn't there against Hardy. He laid and sprayed all night long, not committing to his striking, he didn't even ground and pound.

Georges did come close to finishing the fight with the arm bar and kimura attempts, most fighters would of tapped, but Hardy showed why he is one of the toughest fighters in MMA by taking the pain and staying in the fight. Hardy came out a winner in that fight last night for sure.

There is no denying Georges is dominant and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Even though he picked up wins against some of the best fighters at 170 pounds, he couldn't finish most of the fighters. He couldn't finish Koscheck, Fitch, Alves, and now Hardy. He was able to finish Serra and Hughes because let's face it, they're far from their primes and he finished Penn who is one weight class under him and basically didn't finish him since Penn was the one to quit.

GSP wants to be known as the best ever pound-for-pound, my question is, how can he be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world if he can't finish fights?
