UFC 111Prelims Live Play-by-Play: Ricardo Almeida (11-3) vs. Matt Brown (13-7)

1st round – The hometown favorite, Ricardo Almeida, approaches the center of the ring. Matt Brown is already there to meet him.  Brown stalks after Almeida and gets tied up with him.  Almeida is working diligently to take Brown to the ground but Brown is hanging tough. 

Almedia finally gets it to the ground and immediately works to pass his guard.  Brown is using the octagon fence to get back up to his feet.  He gets there, however only for a moment as Almeida drags him right back to the ground.  Brown works his way back up but Almedia sticks to him and presses him against the fence. 

Brown hits Almeida with a knee up the middle and the referee breaks them up.  Brown runs right at Almedia after the break but he gets locked up with a clinch and then gets tagged with a knee. 

Brown gets some separation and hits Almeida with a knee.  Almeida hits Brown with a couple of elbows from the clinch.  Brown survives but gets hit with several unanswered punches at the end of the round.

UNOFFICIAL SCORING – Almeida 10-9

2nd round – Brown rushes after Almeida and hits with a leg kick but gets caught and taken to the ground.  Brown gets up and is pressed against the cage. 

Almeida trips Brown to the mat and is in side control, only for a moment, Brown gets back up to his feet.  They are tied up again and Brown is defending against the takedown.  Almeida hits Brown with a right hook and the referee separates the two.  Brown throws a kick but gets dropped with a right hand. 

Almeida takes his back and is working for the choke submission. 

Brown is bleeding all over the octagon as he defends against the submission.  Almeida begins to attempt to flatten Brown out.  He does, and sinks in the fight ending rear naked choke submission as Brown taps out.
