WWE Wrestlemania 26 Predictions
World Wrestling Entertainment will present Wrestlemania XXVI on March 28 live on pay-per-view from Glendale, Ariz.
Main Event: Career vs. Streak, No Disqualification or Countout
Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker
Undertaker has amassed a 17-0 streak at Wrestlemania, making this match more significant than both world title matches and the Bret Hart-Vince McMahon match.
Either this incredible streak will end, or we will see Shawn Michaels wrestle for the last time. This was an unforgettable moment two years ago when Shawn retired Ric Flair (until he came back last month in TNA...grrrr...don't get me started).
Also, Taker and Michaels wrestled last year at Wrestlemania 25 in one of the greatest matches in WWE history. The pressure will be on them to equal or top last year's match.
I just can't see Shawn Michaels retiring after losing to Undertaker at back-to-back Wrestlemanias. I'm calling the upset: The Heartbreak Kid will break Undertaker's streak.
Bret Hart vs. Mr. McMahon
I still can't believe we're actually going to see this match. I hope this gives us all closure after the events of the 1997 Survivor Series.
Even though Bret is past age 50 and Vince is north of 60, this should be a remarkable, emotional battle. Look for Bret to win with the Sharpshooter and ride off into the sunset.
Unified WWE Tag Team Championship
The Miz & The Big Show © vs. R-Truth & John Morrison
Last year, Miz and Morrison battled Carlito and Primo to unify the World and WWE tag team title. This year, they are fighting for the belts again on opposite teams.
Miz has gotten a lot better and proven that he will not go down in history as the weak link of the Miz-Morrison duo. Look for the great equalizer, The Big Show, to deliver a knockout, allowing Show-Miz to retain the belts.
Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Ten wrestlers will compete in the biggest Money in the Bank match ever. This may be the final MITB match at Wrestlemania, since MITB will spin off into its own pay-per-view on July 18.
The participants are all looking for the opportunity to cash in a World title shot at any time. They are Christian, Kane, Shelton Benjamin, Jack Swagger, MVP, Dolph Ziggler, Intercontinental champ Drew McIntyre, Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingston, and Evan Bourne.
Only Kane has held the WWE or World title, and that was just for one day in 1998. Like Edge, Rob Van Dam, and CM Punk, the winner will be minted as a new main-event superstar.
Some of these guys (I'm looking at you, Shelton) have been stuck in the mid-card for years and desperately need a win. WWE seems to love McIntyre, so he will probably grab the briefcase to go with his IC title.
WWE Title
Batista © vs. John Cena
This is a rematch from SummerSlam, when both men enjoyed the cheers of the fans. Now Batista is a heel. He won the belt last month from an exhausted Cena, who had just won a brutal Elimination Chamber match.
Cena can win, lose, or make movies, and the fans will still love him (yes, and some will hate him). Batista should get the win and hang onto the belt for several months. He is establishing himself as a great heel bully champion, much like Brock Lesnar in UFC.
World title
Chris Jericho © vs. Edge
We'll never know how long Jericho and Edge would have held the Unified tag team titles together, because Edge was injured and sidelined for months.
When Jericho responded by bad-mouthing his former partner, we all penciled this match in for Wrestlemania, with Edge wrestling as a fan favorite for the first time in years.
We didn't know Edge would win the Royal Rumble, nor did we know Jericho would win the World title last month at the Elimination Chamber.
Don't be surprised if Edge picks up his 10th World title, and we'll see if Edge catches fire as a popular champion.
CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio
If CM Punk wins, Mysterio has to join the Straight Edge Society. This is such a cool idea, that I'm pretty sure it's going to happen. This should be a great match, too. I hope it opens the show.
Other matches
I am also picking Sheamus to show his recent WWE title reign was not a fluke with a win over Triple H.
Also, Randy Orton will face his Legacy troops, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes, in a triple threat match. Look for DiBiase to score a career-boosting win.
The Raw divas, led by Beth Phoenix, should get revenge over the Smackdown divas, led by Vickie Guerrero.
