UFC 111: Thiago Alves Out, Ben Saunders Set To Fight Jon Fitch
According to numerous sources around the web it, appears as if the highly anticipated rematch between Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves is a no-go.
As reported by TMZ, a CT Scan has shown an irregularity in Alves’ brain; a matter that UFC President Dana White is taking very seriously.
White told TMZ that he will be flying Alves to a specialist for further evaluation. White also told TMZ that if it is true then this could be career ending.
This is very disturbing news for a young man with such a promising future ahead of him in the sport.
For Jon Fitch who was looking to earn another shot at UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre, he is now stuck in limbo.
The UFC is diligently working to find a replacement but on roughly 48 hours notice it will be near impossible to do so.
It has just been confirmed that Ben Saunders will be taking Alves' places against Jon Fitch at UFC 111.
Saunders was originally scheduled to face up and coming talent Jake Ellenberger but is now set to fill the void.
It has been reported that Ellenberger will still receive his "win" and "show" money from the UFC for the late switch.
Bleacher Report is working to get in contact with Ellenberger for his reaction to the situation.
