TNA: What Could Be Done To Improve The Product!
There have been many discussions on how TNA could be better than what it is now in it's current state. People want Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Vince Russo and others to be fired and hire the man behind the original ECW success, Paul Heyman! I am one of those people who believs that Mr. Heyman could indeed make TNA a better show, but here are a few more ideas that I feel, and this is my opinion only, would make TNA a great promotion:
1) Get rid of the old guys!: This is a no brainer. No one wanted to see the Nasty Boys, Orlando Jordan, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, and the many other over hyped wrestles from yester years competing in TNA, but because they are friends of Hulk Hogan, they got roster spots. Was TNA clamoring to hire any of these wrestlers before Hogan took over? NO!!!! These men are past their prime and taking time from the talented, young roster that TNA was able to develop. Get rid of ALL of them, with the exception of Ric Flair because he is a good manager and can still cut an entertaining promo every once in a while.
2) Move the show to Saturday nights!: TNA is getting killed in the ratings on Mondays and their ratings weren't that good on Thursdays to begin with. Moving the show to Saturday, much the way that the NWA use to come on TBS at 6:05 could open the market up to the male demographic between the ages of 18-34. It could work because around 6, Spike is showing some movies that are not that good or re-runs of the UFC. Put Impact on, and see what could happen. Either more people would tune in, or it would draw the same ratings as the movies or what TNA usually gets.
3) Go on tour!: How would anyone know what your product is if you confine yourself to the same little arena? TNA needs to tour the southern territory like Florida, and not just Orlando. Texas, Louisville, Memphis and other southern regions. Even though the WWE is popular in those areas as well, TNA could be introduced to the casual wrestling fan by going on tour. They have been to England and Wales, so continue to tour other countries and all around the southern states, to start off.
4) Put The Global Title on a real wrestler!: Rob Terry is a disgrace to wrestling! He is a big, muscular, non-wrestling, piece of trash! He makes Chris Masters look like a technical genius in the ring. The Global title is suppose to be the secondary title in TNA and it's on a guy who can't wrestle worth a damn! Put that title on Samoa Joe, Mr. Anderson, Desmond Wolfe, "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero, ME!!! Just kidding, but you get my point.
5) Use The X-Division!: The one thing that stood out about TNA and what made it a great promotion was the X-Division! The matches were exciting, innovative, and just great to watch. The X-Division is what made people tune in to watch in the first place. How can you make that a joke in your promotion, when it was the very segment of wrestling that got people interested in the product? TNA needs to utilize the X-Division for what it is and was. Ground breaking! When Samoa Joe came to TNA they made the X-Division no limits and Joe, Daniles and Styles put on a 5 star match for the X-Division title.
6) Join with Ring of Honor!: This idea is a tough one to sell, but I'm going to put it out there. TNA, at one time, had a working relationship with ROH until the former owner of ROH was caught up in a scandal involving child pornography. Of course, TNA pulled out of their dealings with ROH because of this scandal. But now ROH is under new management, and some of the TNA wrestlers have wrestled in ROH to date. Samoa Joe came back for a match and the Motor City Machine Guns will be in ROH in May. Many wrestles have come from ROH to go to TNA or the WWE. If TNA and ROH worked together again, they could help one another out. Both companies have tv deals, but everyone who has cable or direct tv does not get Spike or HDnet. A working relationship with each other introduces wrestling fans to new wrestlers, that they may not have ever heard of. ROH could be viewed, by TNA, as house shows for their stars and ROH stars could get more television exposure in the mainstream. Neither of these promotions can compete with the WWE, in terms of production, but they could put on better quality matches. Imagine, AJ Styles vs. Davey Richards? Hardcore fans know who Davey Richards is.
7) Ric Flair should manage Matt Morgan!: Ric Flair is one of the greatest men in wrestling today. However, his current angle with AJ Styles is terrible! AJ is a great wrestler, but it's hard to take him seriously as a heel. Matt Morgan, on the other hand, would be the perfect fit for Ric Flair. Flair could take the young, arrogant giant to a new level that Morgan may not achieve without the Nature Boy. Morgan could go to Flair and tell him that he is the future of wrestling, which would make Styles angry and prompt a match. Then Flair turns on Styles, hence making AJ a face again, setting up a world title match, which Morgan wins, with Flairs help. Matt Morgan may not be the best wrestler in the business, but Flair and Morgan together makes more sense than the current angle they have going.
These are some of my ideas that I think could make TNA a better product for wrestling fans to enjoy because judging by the comments that I have read about TNA on this site, TNA is on it's way out! If TNA improves their product, it may force the WWE to improve their product and that's a win/win situation for all wrestling fans.
