April 17th Will Be a Day Dana White Regrets

Jason CottierMar 23, 2010

It is no secret that Dana White has his favorites and he would do anything to keep them happy.  I thought it was bound to happen when he said he wanted Chuck Liddell to retire, but he is not his father and he can not tell him whether or not he can fight...he is just the man that offers him a contract.

Then I see that he lets Dan Henderson go...A man that just thrilled millions of fans by shutting Bisping's mouth.  A man that was once again in the title picture, and the only man that I see having a legitimate chance of beating Anderson Silva at 185.

Now he is trying to pump up another Chuck Liddell fight that no one really cares about...trying to convince people that Chuck may have been able to beat Tito in their primes, but now that they are both slipping and Chuck has been shown to have a chin made of rice paper Tito could knock him out.

Matt Hughes is fighting again as well...It is like when the New England Patriots had an undefeated season going and instead of showing that we get to see the old '72 dolphins have a reunion and play another game.

Now Hendo is going to Strikeforce and getting a title shot...and I really don't see how Shields is going to hold on to his title.  Therefore Hendo is going to be one of the faces of Strikeforce and he may be just as old as the others that White had shunned him for...he actually has the talent to evolve and stay a top contender for a few more years to come.

So while Dana White is feeding his aging lap dogs and trying to make sure they stay happy he is losing sight of what brought the UFC out to the mainstream and the top company in all of MMA.  It surely was not by letting a top contender go with no hopes of ever resigning him.
