2010 NIT Bracket Update: The Quarterfinals

It does not gain the recognition nor the attention of the NCAA Tournament, but the NIT is providing fans with solid performances headlined by a surging North Carolina Tar Heels squad.

Tonight, No. 4 North Carolina takes on No. 2 Alabama-Birmingham in the quarterfinals of the NIT with a trip to Madison Square Garden on the line.  MSG is the site of the NIT semifinals and championship.

The Tar Heels visit the Blazers for the second of tonight's two quarterfinal games.  The matchup can be seen on ESPN at 9 p.m. EST. 

North Carolina eked out a 76-74 victory in the final seconds over No. 1 Mississippi State.  UAB blew out No. 6 North Carolina State 72-52.

The night's action starts at 7 p.m. EST on ESPN with No. 5 Texas Tech taking on No. 2 Mississippi.  Both teams come off close second round victories.  Mississippi beat No. 3 Memphis 90-81 ini the previous round while Texas Tech downed upstart No. 8 Jacksonville 69-64.
