UConn Huskies: The Anti-Cinderella Team

Henry BellMar 23, 2010

Remember when UConn was ranked 14th in the nation? When they used to be good?

Well, that time is over. UConn is past their prime. The Cinderella team is now not-so-Cinderella.

Stanley Robinson used to be scoring 20 points a game. Now he's averaging a mere 14 points a game when he could easily be dominating...he's just simply standing around.

Every night, UConn fans are hoping for it to be "one of those nights" when Stanley Robinson gets on fire and normally leads his team to a win. But those nights are becoming more and more scarce....

Ranked 14, then 25, soon to be unranked, then headed to the NIT. What happened? Could it just mean that they're past their prime? Have they really lost it?

I don't think so. No, not one bit. I think that this team can be much, much better. I think that this team is one of the best. One of the elite. But what can they do to become such an elite team?

They need a new coach. They need someone that will push them to the limit. Someone that won't stop at winning, but will reach for pure domination. Someone that has a killer instinct.

Don't get me wrong, Jim Calhoun is one of the best coaches of all time. His all-time record is a winning record. But he's not a good fit for Connecticut.

After their loss against Virginia Tech last night, I knew that what I saw was real. This team should be blowing out teams like Virginia Tech. They shouldn't even be in their league. It seems they don't even care anymore...at least they play like they don't.

They need to step up. Or else it's going to keep getting worse and worse.

I guess if the shoe doesn't fit, they have to make it fit.
