UFC 111: Preview & Prediction
Matt Riddle vs. Greg Soto
It is very hard to predict how a fight is going to go when I have never even heard of Greg Soto...let alone saw what he brings to the table. I know he is undefeated and he finishes most of his fights, but this is his first UFC and Riddle is a four time competitor as well as a TUF alum...so I am going to have to go with what I know and say Riddle by decision
Rousimar Palhares vs. Tomasz Drwal
Rousimar Palhares will have a tough fight on his hands here, but will take this one by submission
Rodney Wallace vs. Jared Hamman
Honestly never seen either of these two fight, but Rodney Wallace has the nickname of "Sho Nuff the Master" so of course I am going to pick him in the most brutal, one sided KO/Submission hybrid that wins him both bonus purses.
Kurt Pellegrino vs. Fabricio Camoes
I have a hard time choosing a winner in this one, because I can see it teetering either way...I know Kurt's fights and from what I have witnessed of Fabricio he looks tough too, but this one will go to decision...there is my prediction.
Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Brown
This is a battle between two guys that come to fight one night and the next give piss poor effort. Maybe it is their opponent that makes them look that way, but they both seem very inconsistent and I hate to pick a winner...I will call this the Kevin Randleman Award and give it to Matt Brown by decision
Nate Diaz vs. Rory Markham
I would never count either Diaz brother out of a fight and I think Diaz will definitely work his magic in this one as well...you know the get thrown around and everyone thinks he is going to lose, but he is extremely tough and he is not finished until the horn blows and the fight is over.
Diaz by submission
Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek
Jim Miller takes this one by submission.
Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves
Thiago Alves was once the most feared man in this weight class, but there have been a few lackluster performances since then and I personally don't think he has the desire to be a top contender anymore.
Jon Fitch by decision
Ben Saunders vs. Jake Ellenberger
I don't like Ben Saunders, but I think he is getting too good to be ignored...he is going to win...don't care how.
Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin
Frank Mir has undergone a transformation...much like BJ Penn, Frank Mir was not as serious about his training as he should have been in the past. Frank was at one time the top dog in the heavyweight division and with his new outlook toward his training he could very well do that. Shane Carwin is the only man in the UFC that could come close to matching strength with Brock Lesnar and Mir has been training to deal with that strength. Add to that the fact that Carwin will not be as weary as Brock was to exchange with Mir and I think Carwin is in for a little trouble here.
Mir by TKO
Georges St-Pierre vs. Dan Hardy
St-Pierre has been so good for me to even think of the fact that he could very well lose this fight. The last time we saw Georges in the least bit of trouble was in his loss to Matt Serra. GSP was rocked during and exchange and never was able to recover. Matt Serra is not the striker that Dan Hardy is, but Hardy is not the Ju Jitsu expert that Matt Serra is. If GSP is losing on the feet in this fight he would be much better off taking this fight to the ground and would certainly have an easier time doing so.
