Auburn Tigers Football: One Less Competes at Tight End
Bailey Woods has been a true Auburn man. He has worked hard and tried his best. He simply could not break into the playing rotation. He played tight end at Auburn and has two years of eligibility left.
He graduated in three years and has had an exemplary stay on the plains. The Gus Malzhan system does not utilize a true tight end position. His chances of playing time in the future had decreased with two other tight ends being ahead of him on the depth chart.
He still has that Auburn spirit though. He is transferring to Georgia State where he will play for Coach Bill Curry. This is a first year program that will try to upset rival Alabama one week before the 2010 Iron Bowl.
Still on the roster at the tight end position is Philip Lutzenkirchen . He caught two touchdown passes last season. He will be the favorite to win playing time in 2010.
Brandon Mosley a junior college transfer that has two years of eligibility left, Dakota Mosley an incoming true freshman remains to fill the depth chart. Most expect Brandon Mosley to eventually make it to the offensive line.
Mosley, Lutzenkirchen and Mosley look to replace the graduated Tommy Trott at the starting tight end position. Lutzenkirchen was the backup during the 2009 season and got some quality playing time.
