On to the Sweet Sixteen....

Korie Lucious hit a 3 pointer at the end of regulation to seal the victory for the Spartans.. SpartyMSU was up in Marquette Michigan watching the game.. where it is still damn cold on the banks of le lac supérieur or Gitche Gumee.  Originally we took the long ass drive up there thinking Marquette the University was in Marquette Michigan.. instead, we found a beautiful  and well rounded Northern Michigan University.. Nice school.. good hockey program..… But this is another blog posting for another time…

 The tooth fairy made an emergency call to Spartan land last night after Raymar Morgan got it knocked out by the physical play and flying elbow of Maryland.  Couldn’t believe what I saw in the replay, in Slo-Mo…   it sort of flew out.. just popped out… that HAD to hurt.. what a trooper.. what a leader to carry on after that..

More bad news..  Kalin is done for the season, out with a Achilles tendon, Chris Allen has a foot arch issue, Delvon Roe has knee and wrist issues. The Spartans are hurting…. Sweet 16 is some sweet consolation for the injuries and effort the boys put in… Can they head to the final Four with out Kalin or the others at 100% ..??

But, I do think this does  mean they finally jelled as a team ? Yeah.…  It also means that the Spartans have overcome huge adversity this season and during the recent tourney run…

Everyone from Korie, Green, Summers, Roe, Thornton, Kebler pulled their weight.. and then some…  Against Maryland: Summers had a 26 points, Raymar 17, and Korie 13.  Even Mr. Nix looked less arrogant out there with 8 points and 4 rebounds.. we need him to be a team player not a solo flyer…

The Spartans crushed Maryland on the boards 42 – 24… And shot 55% for the game to Maryland’s 43%...

The last 24 seconds were incredible… the back and forth with the dead nuts shot by Korie at the buzzer. The kids has grown up this season.. He might be coming into his own…

 
Note:  MSU has been to the Sweet Sixteen the past three seasons. MSU has made nine in the past 13 seasons. And to last years final game against N.C.

Friday will be interesting against Northern Iowa…
