The Riddler Reports on….Jim Ross Not Announcing At WM26?

Today I have this to report. Some Very Sad News has reported on 24Wrestling:

Jim Ross emphasized on Twitter, his WWE Universe blog and official website that he will not be calling WrestleMania XXVI. Instead, he will be in
attendance at the event strictly “as a fan.”quote unquote!!!

Official Website Entry: “There are no plans for me to broadcast the event at this time. I’m looking forward to seeing old friends and enjoying the weekend as a fan.”

WWE Universe Entry: “This is officially a business trip but it’s much more than that. I am attending strictly as a fan for the first time, that I can recall and I’m looking forward to it.”

Twitter Entry: “Made travel 4 WMania. Going 2 enjoy it strictly as a fan. … Lots of folks asking about me going 2 Mania as a fan. I’m good w/ it. 4 date nites w/ the wife ain’t bad.”

It should be noted that, this past Monday night at RAW, word had gone around backstage, that Ross would be announcing, at least the main event at WrestleMania.

My thoughts:

Personally this is some very sad news to me. I’ve been a fan of good old J.R. for many years and I was really hoping to see him announce once more, in WrestleMania 26. But hopefully. we will have Matt Striker, who to me is this generation’s J.R. Of course I’m not comparing him to a legend like Jim Ross. I’m just saying that he’s one of this generation’s really great announcers and he has a bright future.
