Gamboa....... THE GENUINE ARTICLE

No wonder Bob Arum is smiling,it looks like hes got it made in the featherweight division with a little help from yuriorkis gamboa. This 2 time gold medal amateur champion has ALL the tools to be GREAT.After selling his medals to support his family he defected to Colombia then moved on to Germany.

After turning pro in 2007 he has had 17 fights winning 15 by k.o. After winning his 1st 6 fights he made his U.S debut against Adailton De Jesus winning in the 6th and final round.He fought in January 2008  with a 1st round k.o of Gilberto Luque.In february of that year he fought Johnnie Edwards on his U.S t.v debut knocking him out in the 1st round too!!! and won the vacant NABF Super Featherweight title.

On may 17th 2008 he fought Darling Jiminez for the vacant WBC International Super Featherweight title winning by unanimous decision after gettig knocked down in the 4th round.On July of 2008 he stepped down to Featherweight knocking out Al Seegerto in the 1st round to win the vacant WBO and NABO titles.In october he stepped up in class again fighting Marcos Ramirez who was 25 and 0 at the time. Gamboa was dropped in the 1st round by a blatant elbow but got up to destroy him in the 2nd round.On april 17th 2009 Gamboa stopped Jose Rojas in the 10th round to win the Interim Featherweight title.Then in october he stopped Whyber Garcia in the 4th round to win the WBA Featherweight title.In his last fight he fought Rogers Mtagwa and destoyed him in 2 rounds with e devastating performance of power and speed.Not many Cubans turn proffesional, but when you see Gamboa in action maybe you will think like me and wish more of them would.He is quality and my tip to be a great!!
