USC Football News: Will Bryce Brown End Up a Trojan?

Rick McMahanMar 19, 2010

News coming out of Knoxville has Bryce Brown, the 6'0", 215 lb. running back who was widely considered to be the best prep running back in 2008, leaving Tennessee for "personal reasons."

New Volunteer head coach Derek Dooley yesterday confirmed the report saying that Brown, "was no longer a member of the football team."

Brown, whose career at Tennessee began under a cloud of NCAA suspicion regarding his amateur status prior to being admitted as a Vol, backed up starting running back Monterio Hardesty last year.

Although he wasn't able to secure the starting spot, Brown showed flashes of the talent that made him a top ten recruit in many prep rating services estimation.

Early rumors have Brown resurfacing at USC where the Trojans are now in need of running backs after Joe McKnight and Stafon Johnson's departure.

Of course, Lane Kiffin, Brown's coach at Tennessee, now is the head man at USC, so it is natural that some would "connect the dots" and have the Trojans as a main player for the running backs services.

However, at this point, Brown going to the Trojans is just speculation.

Speaking of speculation, the other "hot" rumor has Brown transferring to Kansas State where his brother, Arthur Brown, the 2007 top prep linebacker, transferred to after beginning his career at Miami.

Again, this is all just rumor at this point.

What isn't a rumor is that Bryce Brown will not be playing football in 2010.

Unless a petition to the NCAA says otherwise, Brown will have to sit out the upcoming season.

Until things play out, we will just have to see what comes next for Bryce Brown.

But don't be surprised if Brown wears cardinal and gold sometime in his future.
