Five Reasons Kentucky Won't Go to the Sweet Sixteen
Kentucky will be the first #1 seed to be sent home
It’s time for March Madness and it’s very easy to pick a number one to cut down the nets in April as they are the cream of the crop. This year Duke, Kansas, Syracuse, and Kentucky all snagged #1 seeds and many of them are picked as favorites to win it all. It is easy to pick them to win in the first round since it is well known that #1 seeds have never lost to #16 seeds, but when it comes to picking them to do better be careful because this could be one of the toughest years for the #1 seeds!

When looking at the #1 seeds it seems to me that Kentucky will not make the final four and there is a very good chance that may not even make the Elite Eight! Here are a few of the reasons they won’t go deep in the tournament.

Five Reasons Kentucky won’t go deep in the tournament!
Experience: Kentucky is a very young team. In fact there is not one player on this Kentucky team that has had experience in the Big Dance and has had the pleasure to go deep in the tournament. Experience is priceless in a tournament like this one and it will cost this Kentucky team.
Pressure: Kentucky is not only inexperienced but now they have been saddled with a # 1 seed. That kind of thing will bring some pressure and that will be tough for some young kids to handle as every game is a pressure cooker and all the lower seeds will be looking to knock out the #1 seed.
Underdogs: Everyone likes the underdogs in this tournament and unless the game is being played in a home friendly arena there is a good chance that the fan base may actually be rooting for the underdog. A team full of freshmen may have trouble with that since the two losses for Kentucky were on the road and other close losses against teams like Mississippi St were in a neutral arena.

Guard Play: There is no doubt that John Wall is one of the best but if Kentucky wants to win he has to do well. He scored less than 20 in both losses and in the narrow win against Miss. St. Teams that get to the big dance can have some tough guards that defend well and that could lead to an upset against Kentucky.
Competition: That leads me to my final point. This is not an easy bracket for a #1 seed. It’s not as tough as the Midwest but it’s much harder than the South. The Wildcats will have to face Texas or Wake Forest and it looks as though they will have to face up against West Virginia who is arguably the hottest team heading into the bracket and champions of the toughest conference in hoops.
Kentucky is a very talented team and unless they lose players early or get busted for recruiting violations they will have a very bright future. I just don’t see that future being now.
