First Round
#1 Kansas takes on #16 Lehigh—Kansas is playing better than any team in the country right now and has never been ranked lower than #3 all year. If you are looking for a stunning upset to win your office pool this is not it.
#2Ohio St takes on UC Santa Barbara—Oho St is for real and should have been in consideration for a #1 seed. Evan Turner is the best basketball player in the country and should be good enough for a few wins in the tournament.
#3 Georgetown takes on #14 Ohio—this is a big mismatch and unless Georgetown is looking forward to the next round they should take control of this game early and run away with it. Ohio is tough but they are out of their league.
#4 Maryland takes on #13 Houston—be careful Maryland you are the better team in this matchup but Houston has been playing on borrowed time. Playing with the nothing to lose motto has made the Cougars a tough opponent. Playing on the west coast only helps Houston and I think they have a chance to upset here and catch the Maryland faithful sleeping. Houston wins and advances.
#5 Michigan St takes on #12 New Mexico St.—the tournament really does thrive off experience and coaching. Michigan St has the edge in both categories and although 12 seeds were made for upsets the Spartans will advance in this bracket.
#6 Tennessee will play #11 San Diego St—Tennessee has beaten the top ranked teams all year and it would seem they are on a crash course to advance in this tournament, but not so fast. The Vols are young and this tournament can over whelm them and not knowing San Diego St will hurt them in a big way as they are ushered out of the big dance in the first round.
#7 Oklahoma St takes on Georgia Tech—get out your coins because this one is a coin toss. Both teams have played very well but in have fallen apart in the big games. Well it doesn’t get any bigger than this one. Georgia Tech got beat up and put it all on the floor against Duke and that will hurt them in this game. Oklahoma City advances.
#8 UNLV takes on #9 Northern Iowa—the realization of this game is the winner will fall to Kansas. That is the best part of picking brackets is that this kind of game won’t hurt you because the winner will play the toughest team in the country. UNLV upset and won the big tourney to get here and could get caught napping. I will take the upset and pick the nine seed to advance. Northern Iowa moves on.
Second Round:

#1 Kansas takes on #9 Northern Iowa—regardless of what team makes it to play Kansas they will have a tough road to hoe. Kansas is one a mission ad ready to get through the lower tier teams to get to the big games. Northern Iowa may keep it close early but they don’t have a shot.
#2 Ohio St. takes on #7 Oklahoma St—the Buckeyes have a slight home court advantage but I really believe in crunch time when a star player has a shot to make a difference they can do it. Keith Van Horn carried Utah back in the day and now it’s Evan Turner that will carry Ohio St to the next level. He was named player of the year for a reason, he moves on.
#3 Georgetown faces #11 San Diego St—the upset win by San Diego St in the first round was no fluke and they will play the Hoyas very tough. In the end they will not have what it takes to beat the Hoyas and Georgetown will have the home crowd that will find it easier to travel to back them up. Take the Hoyas to advance to the next round.
# 5 Michigan St. takes on #13 Houson—Michigan St has experience and they have one of the best coaches in all of basketball in Tom Izzo. Houston may have pulled off the upset to go this far but they will not be any match for the Spartans. Michigan St advances easily!
The final four teams heading to the sweet sixteen from the Midwest bracket will be Kansas, Michigan St, Georgetown, and Ohio St.
This be far is the most talented bracket in the tournament and anything can happen, don’t be surprised if this is the bracket that has the most upsets.
