WAC betting action finishes up on Saturday night in Reno, where the New Mexico Aggies (21-11, 14-10-2 ATS) will duke it out with the Utah State Aggies (27-6, 18-10 ATS). Utah State advanced to this point in the WAC Tournament by taking out Boise State 84-60 and Louisiana Tech 85-55. It looks like the USU Aggies aren’t going to need to capture the conference crown to go dancing, particularly after all of the carnage from Thursday still holding over. New Mexico State is a significantly different story, though. The Aggies from Las Cruces need to improve upon their wins over San Jose State (90-69) and Nevada (80-79) to make it to the NCAA Tournament.

NMSU has to get some major production from its two biggest stars. G Jahmar Young and G Jonathan Gibson are both lethal scorers, especially in WAC play. Those two are scoring 20.7 and 17.9 points per game respectively. Fs Troy Gillenwater and Wendell McKines are both averaging double digits in scoring, but both have been limited to a combined 33 games played this year. C Hamidu Rahman has been a consistent threat both offensively (10.7 PPG) and on the glass (8.4 RPG) in 2009-10.

Utah State is one of the few teams in the nation that can say that it is shooting better from beyond the arc than opposing teams are shooting from the floor against it. The Aggies have an incredibly efficient offense which ranks in the Top 10 in the country in field goal percentage (49.3%, 7th), three point percentage (42.4%, 2nd), and free throw percentage (76.5%, 5th). On the other side of the ball, they’re only conceding 59.4 points per game. They’ve absolutely torn through their opposition, winning 17 straight games, many coming by double digits.

These dueling Aggies split their season series with one another, with Utah State winning 81-63 on March 6th and New Mexico State winning 55-52 on January 2nd. USU holds a solid 12-5 advantage over NMSU on the college basketball betting lines since the 1999 season.
