New Heel/Face Turn Please?

I was watching SmackDown last night and I realised that there hadn't been any (proper)heel/face turns since October. And yes, I realise Edge has had a face turn but who didn't see that coming? To be honest, even if he'd stayed heel, I would've liked him.

So where have the turns gone? The exciting moments that make your perceptions of the biggest names in wrestling change drastically? Why has Cena never been a heel? And then about halfway through this thought, Beth Phoenix showed up to attack McCool, Layla and Guerrero, possibly becoming face. Now this face turn has been brewing for a while, mainly because Phoenix isn't being given title shots. At best, this turn could see Phoenix and James/Tiffany kicking McCool and Layla out of SmackDown, or separating them completely. Either way, the title then goes to Phoenix/James/Tiffany, although Tiffany seems to have a small feud with Guerrero going.

But what about, I don't know, making a heel/face turn I care about? I can't even remember Edge as a heel or Batista as a face. Why not give someone who's been a face for basically entire career, Cena or Mysterio for example, and make them a bad guy. Someone no one would expect to turn. Or on the flipside, make Orton or Big Show a face. Put them in a decision where they'd need a conscience, and make them pick the good guy.

Also, where does Kane fit into this category? He used to be Satan's Son, the Big Red Monster, and now he's..well...nothing. He has no personality, no good guy/bad guy persona. He's basically there to have small feuds with mid-carders. Make Kane run someone over, or build him up with a tag team partner and then make him turn on someone. When was the last time you heard Kane say anything? His character is boring to watch and basically pointless.
