John Alridge : James McCarthy Would Be a Great Signing For Liverpool Fc

In his words John Alridge just says one thing .."McCarthy would be a good solution to Liverpool fc's problems of late.." One of the lesser known long term pursuits of Rafa Benitez has been James McCarthy, the 19 year old star from Wigan Atheletic Club.

James McCarthy has always been considered a very promising talent from the time he spent in Hamilton and was very much under the REDs radar. However, he chose to stay at Hamilton at that time and eventually turned to Wigan Athletic.

Now several factors would come into play if Liverpool fc are to consider a bid for the teen sensation from Wigan..and its a mixed bag of sorts.

Firstly , the youngster has already refused the REDs to join another club in the Premier League. May be he thought he deserves a first team regular but couldn't see how that would occur at Liverpool fc.whatever be his logic, the distancing may have a pschycological impact on the scouts who were turned down and also Rafa Benitez.

However having said that the remaining few points sounds quite a bit more optimistic for the signing to occur. McCarthy is going to be much cheaper than any mid-fielder the Reds have been linked with in recent times, for a cash-strapped club,nothing could be better.

Moreover the signing could have a major plus point, James has of late started most of Wigan's matches and played more than an hour mark. Being so involved with the team makes James even more suited as a worthy Red midfielder as he is acclaimatised with the prevailing football conditions in England...so all James would be doing joining the Reds would be just changing his shirt..

James has also been a pretty tough nut to crack and also has a goal to his name in this, his Debut season for the Latics.

Presently standing with 28 points Wigan Athletic Club and a lowly 15th in the table, Wigan has a lot at stake.However should they somehow falter and get relegated , their  1.2m pounds star could well be on the look out to put on a Red jersey should the Reds, come  calling, because wherever Liverpool finish it should at this time still be a better option for James, provided he is promised more playing time ,which should not be a problem next season.. and even if Wigan escape the drop-out, James McCarthy, by the performances he puts in, rightly has the potential to make it BIG at Liverpool fc.. 

But will his once keen follower Rafa Benitez stay on ? Will he be brave enough to promise a 19 year old regular playing time..That being sorted out, McCarthy should be an exciting and very obtainable option for Liverpool fc, being a stand-out performer match after match for the Latics.
