Fantasy Baseball Bounceback Players: Corner Infielders

Ryan LesterMar 12, 2010

Here’s a look at some corner infielders that will be glad to see 2009 in their rearview mirrors.

Garrett Atkins, 1B/3B, Baltimore Orioles

Miguel Tejada’s signing changes things for Atkins, but he’d be hard-pressed not to improve on a dreadful 2009 (.226-37-9-48-0) season.

Adrian Beltre, 3B, Boston Red Sox

The move to Boston should be beneficial for Beltre, who hit just .265 with 54 runs, 8 HRs, 44 RBI, and 13 SBs. He’ll never return to that suspect 2004 production, but he should be at least counted on for 70 runs, 20 HRs, and 70 RBI.

Lance Berkman, 1B, Houston Astros

Berkman hit just .274 last year. His trend is to pick it up a notch in even years. I’m expecting a return to .300 for starters. He should also approach 30 HRs and 100 runs and RBI.

After a terrible start to his 2009 season, Davis was sent down. He got things in order and finished on a high note.

Aramis Ramirez, 3B, Chicago Cubs

Ramirez had a productive year (.317, 15 HRs, 65 RBIs) considering he played just 82 games. Assuming he can stay healthy, and at least play 130-140 games, he should put up stellar numbers.

David Wright, 3B, New York Mets

Let’s see. The average (.307 was nice). The runs (88) weren’t bad considering he missed 18 games. The SBs (27) were marvelous.  The RBIs (72) were disappointing. The HRs (1o)…don’t get me started. He’s too talented not to bounce back.
