A lightweight match up between "The Ultimate Fighter" season 6 winner Mac Danzig and Matt Wiman will likely take place on the un-aired preliminary portion of the UFC 115 event in June. News of the bout was first reported by MMAjunkie, which stated that both fighters have agreed to the match up.
UFC 115 is expected to take place on June 15 at GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The event could be headlined by a third fight between former UFC light-heavyweight champions Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz.
With his UFC job on the line, Danzig (19-7-1) came through and saved it, notching a unanimous decision win over Justin Buchholz at UFC 109 on Feb. 6. He previously lost three straight fights against the likes of Clay Guida, Josh Neer, and Jim Miller. Danzig now sports an even 3-3 UFC record, with wins in his first two Octagon appearances over Tommy Speer and Mark Bocek.
Prior to coming to the UFC, Danzig fought for other notable promotions such as; King of the Cage, Pride, WEC, Extreme Challenge, IFC and Gladiator Challenge.
Wiman (11-5) also saved his UFC job with a win in his last bout over Shane Nelson at UFC 107 in December. Prior to the win, he suffered back-to-back losses against Jim Miller and Sam Stout.
Wiman, who was a cast member on the fifth season of "The Ultimate Fighter," holds a solid 5-3 record in eight appearances with the UFC, scoring wins in his first four UFC bouts over Brian Geraghty, Michihiro Omigawa, Justin Buchholz and Thiago Tavares. The Extreme Fighting League and Mix Fighting Championships veteran has finished seven of his 11 career wins.
