NCAA Basketball: What's with the Coaches Poll?
Maybe I am not the person to be pointing this out, as I am somewhat biased, but the coaches poll recent preferential treatment of media darlings just shows how worthless it is.
While we as fans like to see our teams rise up the polls and gain some national prominence, it is time to realize that the poll done by the coaches is just ridiculous.
And, as I said, I am a fan. I bleed Wisconsin Badger cardinal and white. So to see them DROP in the poll this week after obliterating Iowa by more than 30 points and then beat Illinois, a pretty decent team, on the road was quite laughable.

And what made it even more laughable are the teams ahead of them that moved up or did not drop when they lost. Specifically, Duke. Yeah, they were No. 4 last week, they lost to Maryland, who is a good team; however, they lost. And yet they remain at No. 4 again this week.
Compare this with the case of Kansas State. They lost to the No. 1 team in the country and to an unranked opponent and dropped four places.
I am all for polls as a judge of a teams worth, but they ought to be at least semi balanced...
Check out Butler. Yes I know what their record is, but shouldn't the No. 11 team in the country be better than 3-3 against the RPI top 50? And shouldn't they have more than one win against a team in the top 25?
I am just sick of the double standard in the polls.
And I guess some things in life are for certain-death, taxes, Coach K's hair never graying, and a wishy-washy coaches poll.
