Imagine The Premiership With Drogba, Rooney, Torres and Van Persie Fit.
Here’s a thought, imagine how good our league will be if the top four teams had their main striker fit for the whole season. If Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal all had their twenty goals striker fit for the whole season then they would all be very strong.
This season, from what I remember, Chelsea have been quite lucky with Drogba. He went to Africa in January but apart from that, he has been fit for Chelsea this season. Drogba has been on fire this season and has helped keep Chelsea at the top of the Premier league.

The striker who has had the best season so far in my opinion has been Wayne Rooney. Rooney has been amazing this season and has grown as a player. I remember in the World cup in 2006, Rooney was asked to play upfront alone and was nearly invisible. He looked a very average player back then but how things have changed. A perfect example is how he led the line at the San Siro and this was one of the best performances I have seen from a striker playing in that role in a long time. Rooney’s season reminds me of Thierry Henry’s season in the unbeaten year. Manchester United has also been very lucky to have Rooney fit for most of the season. (I started writing this before the knee injury picked up in the England game.)
Liverpool and Arsenal have suffered a lot with their main front man out for a big part of the season. Liverpool has had Torres out for big parts of the season and that has hurt their chances as the back up has not been of the same standard. When fit, Torres is a class act and Liverpool have missed him immensely.
Arsenal has been the most hit by injuries but have managed to some how cope. Robin Van Persie has been out since the middle of November and personally I don’t expect him fully fit until after the World cup. Some how, Arsenal has kept themselves in the title race, despite losing to Manchester United and Chelsea twice this season. If Van Persie had stayed fit for the whole season, where would Arsenal be now?
All four strikers are very different, however, are so important to their respective teams. Take all four strikers out their teams this season and the league table would be very different. Before this season, I always thought to win the Premiership you need a striker who will guarantee twenty plus goals a season and have the ability to do something special in those tight games. A perfect example of this is when Liverpool went to Aston Villa. The game was a tight affair with the game goalless until a certain Fernando Torres made a great run and received the ball and placed his shot in the corner of the goal and the ball was in the back of the net. Torres won his team three vital points against a team who was in direct competition for forth place.
The race for the golden boot would be as exciting as the fight for the league title. The four of them plus other strikers such as Carlos Tevez, Manu Adebayor and perhaps even Jermaine Defoe would also be involved.
As an Arsenal fan, I was so disappointed to see Robin Van Persie or RVP as he is known to us, limp off against Italy. On the one hand, I am proud that Arsenal have stayed in the title race and still have a massive chance to win the league but the injury has equally disappointed me. Arsenal (when writing this) is right in the mix of the title race, but imagine with RVP fit where Arsenal would be.
I do pray that we get a season in the next year or so where all four of these fantastic strikers are fit then we can just sit back and watch the show.
