Bendtner's Words are Doubted

Merindha ArtyMar 7, 2010

Nicklas Bendtner, Arsenal's young striker, for one more time invited doubts for his future planning.

“Within five years I want to be the top scorer in the Premier League and I want to be known as a world-class striker. And it will happen. Trust me, it will happen.” as he said to The Guardian not so long ago.

His words are now questioned as Nicklas, who is well-known for his over confident attitude, wasted so many potential chances when Arsenal played Burnley at Emirates last Saturday (6/3/2010).

The game ended with 3-1 score. Another victory for The Gunners to keep them in title race as Captain Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, and Andrey Arshavin all scored, and Burnley could only fight back with one goal from David Nugent.

Even though Theo Walcott is said to be the inspirer of the game, the main spotlight is held on Nicklas Bendtner as he missed at least seven potential chances in rather stupid ways.

When he first missed a brilliant opportunity at the fourth minute, it was still acceptable as the game had just started and there were plenty more times to score. But, after he repeatedly failed and failed, frustration began to show on his face. But he successfully regained 'cool and calm' face with the help of chewing gum, even though his efforts could be seen as desperate act.

The closest to score was when he successfully through the ball pass Burnley's 'keeper, Jensen, and hit the goalpost. Unfortunately, this round creature choose to bounce not into the goal. And once again Nicklas had to be satisfied with just held his head rather than running to the corner and do a group hug with his teammates.

Before he can score, in the seventy-third minute Wenger choose to substitute him with Eduardo, with expectation he could do better than his big Danish. Surprisingly, Nicklas received a huge applause from the fans as a form of appreciation of his efforts. Nicklas then seen to shrugged his shoulder to his teammates.

How could you not score, Nick? *shrug*

How could you miss so many opportunities? *shrug*

And what about your 'I'm gonna be a world class striker' thing? Will it really happen? *shrug*
