Syracuse

They grabbed the #1 seed in the tournament and basically have home court advantage throughout. Georgetown is the only real challenge in the early rounds and perhaps a meeting with Villanova who comes limping into the tournament. Jim Boeheim will have his troops focused for this game and the lost to Louisville to end the season will be the wake up call they need to win this thing.

West Virginia

The Mountaineers had a great come from behind win on the road at Villanova to end the season. That is the kind of win that can build momentum for a team as they head into a tournament. They may not face a real challenge until they have a potential meeting with Pittsburgh deep in the tournament. With the three-point shooting ability of this team they could easily win the whole thing.

Pittsburgh

The Panthers have flown below the radar and have not gotten the press as some of the other Big East elite. However they have played well enough to grab a second seed in the tournament. This team was predicted to finish ninth in the Big East and lost to poor teams like Indiana. They have proved everyone wrong and may do it again in the tournament.

Connecticut

If there is a dark horse team that can surprise and have a chance of winning it all it’s Connecticut. With two losses down the stretch they are desperate for a good tournament and it may be the only way they get invited to a field of 65. They face some beatable teams early and would run into Villanova if they play well enough. Villanova has proved to be beatable and that would put the Huskies close enough to have a shot at the Championship.
