C's Must Find Fountain Of Youth
Watching the Celtics play this season has made one thing very apparent: They are extremely old.
As each game passes the lack of youth on this team becomes more glaring. The big 3 have now all be in the league for over 10 seasons, and the wear and tear they have taken over their careers is evident.
The off season addition of Rasheed Wallace, well at times effective, has made the team even older as Rasheed is now 35.
With older players injuries are always a concern. KG who missed the last 3 months of last season has continued to struggle with his ailing knee, causing him to miss 11 games. Fellow star Paul Pierce has also been bitten by the injury bug this season as he has already missed 10 games himself.
Their performance on the court has also been affected at times. The team is in third place in the eastern conference, but have a dismal record against the leagues best.
The low point of the season came last week when the team lost at home to the historically bad New Jersey Nets, who are on pace to have the worst record in NBA history.
With the exception of Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins it seems as if most of their key players have taken a step back. Pierce, Allen, and Garnett all have seen their scoring numbers dip this season, and it appears their tanks may be emptying.
With the playoffs looming it makes one wonder if the team can hold up. If one more injury were to strike this team their chance at another NBA title may go up in flames.
