March Madness Tune Up: Kansas Jayhawks Eye Big 12 Tourney Championship
After K-State’s stunning senior day loss in the Octagon to Iowa State, here’s how the league finally shook out…
1. Kansas: 15-1 Remarkable run through the deepest league in the country.
2. Kansas State: 11-5 Tough finish to a great year. Wonder if Frank Martin just gave his Big XII COY award to either Self or Drew?

3. Baylor: 11-5 Speaking of, I don’t care for the guy one bit, but a job well done.
4. Texas A&M: 11-5 You know, Turgeon really should be in that discussion. Could be the closest vote in a long time.
5. Missouri: 10-6 Not a bad year for the Tigers. Depending on matchup, though, not sure I expect them to do much in the tourney. Weren’t great before and took a step back losing Safford.
6. Texas: 9-7 From legitimate favorite to get to Indy to six seed in their own league. Not Rick Barnes’ finest effort.
7. Oklahoma State: 9-7 If they’re scorching the nets, they can play with anyone. If they aren’t, they’re barely competent.
8. Colorado: 6-10 Keep an eye on this team. Returning Higgins, Burks and Relphorde next year, they could be a bubble team.
9. Texas Tech: 4-12
10. Oklahoma: 4-12
11. Iowa State: 4-12
12. Nebraska: 2-14
So with that in mind, let’s take a look at the bracket.
Wednesday
Game 1 – 11:30 – Colorado v Tech
Game 2 – 2:00 – Missouri v Nebraska
Game 3 – 6:00 – Oklahoma State v Oklahoma
Game 4 – 8:30 – Texas v Iowa State
Thursday
Game 5 – 11:30 – Kansas v. Game 1 Winner
Game 6 – 2:00 – Texas A&M v Game 2 Winner
Game 7 – 6:00 – Kansas State v Game 3 Winner
Game 8 – 8:30 – Baylor v Game 4 Winner
Friday
Game 9 – 6:00 – Game 5 Winner v Game 6 Winner
Game 10 – 8:30 – Game 7 Winner v Game 8 Winner
Saturday
Championship – 5:00 – Game 9 Winner v Game 10 Winner
So if it were to play to seed, we’d need to get through: Colorado, Texas A&M, and Kansas State to win the thing. Certainly not an easy road, but it hardly ever goes that smoothly. Either way, should be a fun, drunk, weekend at the Sprint Center. And for those of you watching at home, get ready for a heavy dose of Dave Armstrong, Reid Gettys, Doug Bell, and Paul “Split” Splittorf. There isn’t a better crew in all of sports.
