Wrestlemania 26: Heartbreak Won't Be Clean, HBK vs. Undertaker Prediction
The following is a prediction of what I think will happen in the Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker, Career vs. Streak match at Wrestlemania 26.
The Opening
A vignette with the buildup to the match is played. In the vignette, brief clips of Michaels' career and Undertaker's Wrestlemania victories are shown, along with clips from Raw from the past several weeks. It ends with with Michaels saying "You don't understand, if I can't beat you, I have no career."
Sexy Boy starts playing and an emotional Michaels comes out to a huge fireworks display. He poses in the ring for a minute or two and then grabs a microphone.
HBK says, "You know, I was thinking of coming out here and reminiscing about all the things I've done in my career. But there's no need to. I am the Showstoppa! Mr. Wrestlemania! Dead Man, come out here right now so you can Rest. In. Peace."
The whole arena goes black. Gong. There is a huge roar from the fans. Undertaker comes out from behind the curtains as the lights come back on. There's a huge firestorm on both sides of the ramp (safely away from Undertaker).
As the Phenom saunters to the ring, Michaels is staring at him in almost a complete trance. Undertaker gets into the ring, rolls his eyes, removes his cloak and hat and looks to HBK. The staredown lasts for about 45 seconds.
The Match
After the bell rings, they're still staring at one another. Eventually Michaels takes a step towards the Phenom, who doesn't move. Suddenly Undertaker grabs Michaels by the throat. He quicky lifts him, but Michaels slips out and immediately hits Sweet Chin Music, knocking Undertaker from the ring.
Even though the referee looks surprised, Michaels implores him to start counting right away. It looks like the streak will end just a minute into the match, but Undertaker gets back in at 9.
HBK tries to quickly hit another Superkick, but the Dead Man ends up angrily shoving him across the ring.
They stare at one another again and soak up the crowd reaction. Undertaker takes a huge swing at Michaels, but he ducks and chops the Phenom. Undertaker swings again but there's another duck and another chop. Michaels chops him into the corner until the Dead Man swings HBK around and switches places with him.
Undertaker beats the hell out of Michaels until the referee pulls him away. Mr. Wrestlemania leaps at the Undertaker with right hands which they start exchanging until Undertaker floors him with a big boot. Undertaker gets a 2 count.
Undertaker works on HBK for a bit and throws him into the ropes. Michaels dives forward and floors Undertaker. Undertaker gets back up though and Michaels hits a clothesline.
The Dead Man gets up yet again and The Showstopper hits two inverted atomic drops. Michaels clutches his back, climbs the ropes and hits the diving elbow. HBK starts to tune up the band as Undertaker slowly gets to his feet.
Michaels goes for it, but the Undertaker drops back down and rolls out the ring. There's a huge groan from the crowd and HBK looks frustrated.
Michaels misses a baseball slide out of the ring and is thrown into the ring post for his efforts. Undertaker pushes the referee and hits Michaels with a couple more right hands. He tries to throw Michaels into the steel ring steps, but HBK reverses. Undertaker's knees crash into the steps with a loud "thud!"
Michaels kicks the Undertaker a couple of times before taking the monitors off the announcer's table. He lays Undertaker on the table and gives him a couple more right hands before going back towards the ring.
He climbs the turnbuckle, but doesn't notice Undertaker sitting up. Undertaker walks over to the turnbuckle and while standing on the mat outside, grabs Michaels by the throat.
The crowd goes nuts as the Dead Man pulls HBK from the top turnbuckle and chokeslams him through the announcers table (a la Shane McMahon King of the Ring 2000).
Undertaker tries to get up but his knees are hurting from the steps and the chokeslam. He eventually crawls back into the ring, thouogh it looks like Michaels is out. The referee starts counting and Michaels moves a little. It's dramatic, but HBK gets back in on a 9 count.
The Dead Man can't believe it. He grabs HBK's hair, but Michaels suddenly rolls him up for a 2 count. Undertaker whips Michaels into the turnbuckle causing him to flip over on the top.
After Michaels falls back down, Undertaker hits old school for a 2 count. Undertaker knocks Michaels down with a flying Lariat. He then moves his finger across his throat, signaling for the finish.
Undertaker grabs Michaels by the throat, but Mr. Wrestlemania wriggles out of the chokeslam again. He misses Sweet Chin Music. Undertaker tries a tombstone, but Michaels bends back and reverses it into his own tombstone attempt.
Undertaker takes out Michaels' legs and they both fall to the ground. Michaels suddenly nips up and practically runs to the turnbuckle. He climbs up, looks back and goes for a moonsault before the Undertaker can get up.
Unfortunately for HBK, after it connects, he is put into Hell's Gate. He's in it for about 25 seconds before he frantically gets to the rope, exhausted.
The Finish:
Triple H, beaten up and bandaged from his match with Sheamus, cautiously makes his way down the ramp. Undertaker looks at the Game for a moment. Triple H looks nervous because despite what he said earlier, he doesn't think his best friend can beat the Phenom at Wrestlemania.
Undertaker turns around and dodges a sudden Sweet Chin Music attempt which hits the referee. Undertaker grabs Michaels and hits a tombstone. There is no one to count.
Triple H climbs the ring apron and gives the Phenom a crotch chop. Undertaker knocks the Game off the apron with a big right hand. The Dead Man realizes he's in trouble and drags the referee towards Michaels.
As the Phenom goes to pin HBK, Triple H has come from the other side of the ring with a sledgehammer. He slams it down on the Undertaker's head. the Dead Man falls off of Michaels, knocking the referee out of the ring. But Undertaker sits up and Michaels nips up.
A second official is running down to the ring. HBK hits Sweet Chin Music. Triple H helps the new referee into the ring. 1-2-3! The bell ring and the streak appears to be over.
There's a conference between the two referee's outside though. The first referee whispers something to the ring announcer. He had seen Triple H use the sledgehammer. "The winner by disqualification, The Undertaker!"
After the Match
Undertaker is not too pleased by the whole situation. His celebration is brief and he quickly leaves up the ramp. Triple H looks extremely upset and apologizes to his friend. Michaels says nothing, gets up and walks away. His career apparently over.
I think the match will end like this for a few reason:
1) The streak is good for business and will not end.
2) Two straight clean losses at Wrestlemania is bad for Shawn Michaels. The man who calls himself Mr. Wrestlemania is expected to win matches at the big event.
3) This sets Michaels up to return, as a heel, down the road. Michaels can come back several months from now, an angry and bitter man, destroying anything in his path.
The two members of DX wouldn't feud right away, but the buildup would be there for a huge matchup between a face Triple H and a heel HBK.
4) Though many purist fans want match of this magnitude to have a clean finish, they need a different angle if they're going to distinguish the encounter from last year. Just having Michaels lose again wouldn't be exciting and doesn't make sense.
5) After headlining several Wrestlemanias in a row, Triple H has a fairly pointless match against Sheamus. He needs to do something important.
I hope you have all enjoyed the description of the bout and I'm wondering what other people think. Personally though, I'm almost positive that Triple H will be involved in the match.
