Dale Earnhardt Jr won the pole with a lap of 28.76 @ 192.761 mph the fastest qualifying speed ever in the new car for Sunday's Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA. This was his first pole since April 2008 at Texas Motor Speedway and his second at Atlanta. Dale Jr took his first pole of 2010 he had a great start with a second place at Daytona, then 32nd place finish at California and a 16th at Las Vegas. Kyle Busch who is doing double duty starts second on the front row his best career start at Atlanta. The cool track conditions made for alot of grip and fast speeds during friday night qualifying the first few cars who had a early draw complained of the sun going into turn one but other than that a clean qualifying session.
