Jake Delhomme's six year tenure with the Carolina Panthers is officially over as Jay Glazer is reporting that Jake Delhomme has officially been released by the Carolina Panthers. This is coming a year after the Panthers signed Delhomme to a hefty $42.5 million extension for five more seasons including $20 million guaranteed. I repeat: $20 MILLION GUARANTEED.

Carolina faithful has been flip-flop on the quarterback issue since last season but as Delhomme started off very poorly for the Panthers, Matt Moore stepped in and played excellent football to end the season.

Delhomme made the playoffs three times with the Carolina Panthers including a trip to the Super Bowl in which the Panthers lost to the New England Patriots.
