Affliction Banned: Predictions

Jason CottierJul 7, 2008

Here are my predictions on the newly founded, Affliction.  I am hoping that it can live up to expectations and save the Heavyweight division.

Savant Young vs. Mark Hominick:

I am going to give this one to Hominick by submission.

Mike Pyle vs. JJ Ambrose:

Pyle by submission.

Justin Levens vs. Ray Lizama:

Levens snaps his losing streak with a TKO.

Vitor Belfort vs. Terry Martin:

I am looking forward to seeing Vitor and seeing if he still has the hand speed to completely overwhelm Martin and win by KO.

Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Paul Beuntello:

Buentello by KO.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Vernon White:

Little Nog by submission.

Matt Lindland vs. Fabio Negao:

Matt Lindland works ground and pound to a TKO victory.

Renato Sobral vs. Mike Whitehead:

I hate to say it, but I think Sobral will win by submission...Maybe this time he won't be such an ass and try to kill his opponent after the fact.  I am disgusted by the fact he is even allowed to fight anymore.

Andre Arlovski vs. Ben Rothwell:

Andre by KO.

Josh Barnett vs. Pedro Rizzo

I hope Pedro Rizzo can repeat the spectacular KO of Barnett, but most likely Barnett by decision.

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Silvia:

It will be interesting to see if Fedor has what it takes to compete with actual competition since he hasn't faced anyone of substance since Mark Coleman...and his substance is questionable.  I think he will pull off a victory with one of his awesome arm locks, but I am really not at the point where I would go to Vegas and put money on it or anything.

Affliction really does have the Heavyweight talent to last for a while on just Heavyweights.  There are several good main events that can be set up.  I really hope to see Arlovski vs. Fedor if they are both victorious.

I, for one, am glad Tivo was invented, simply for the reason that I won't have to chose which one to miss out on...UFC usually does run an immediate replay after events anyway.  So I might not even have to Tivo it, but I will for safety purposes.
