Rumours Round-up: William Gallas off to AS Roma?

Even though the next transfer window is months away, there is no shortage of speculation about player moves in football.

Reports in the Italian press are suggesting that Arsenal’s William Gallas is on Roma’s radar . The 32-year-old centre back’s contract expires in the summer and, with no offer on the table from the Gunners, Gallas is free to talk to other clubs.

At least Roma’s current defence won’t have to cope with Milan’s hotshot striker Alexandre Pato in this weekend’s game. Pato misses out at the weekend, as he will be rested in order to play against Manchester United in their Champions League round-of-16 second leg.

Liverpool’s movers and shakers involve possible moves away for Albert Riera , who has allegedly had a bust-up with Rafa Benitez, and Steven Gerrard , who could be the subject of a summer bid from Inter Milan.

Former Inter Milan striker/party animal Adriano is also ready to leave the protection of his native Brazil and return to Europe. His agent is touting him around "Brazilian-friendly" teams, which he reckons are Barcelona, Real Madrid, and this week’s most gossip-friendly club, AS Roma.

The hottest property this summer, though, looks set to be David Luiz . The Benfica defender is valued at €10m and is interesting the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd, and Real Madrid.

In other sport, Roger Federer will be unable to play at Indian Wells because of a persistent back injury, Formula 1’s biggest flop of the year USF1 has finally given up the ghost, and NFL’s most disgraced quarterback, Michael Vick, wants to play for the Carolina Panthers, so he can play against former employers the Atlanta Falcons twice a year.
