Are The Miz and John Morrison the New Age Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty?

If you have been following the WWE for a while and paying attention to the whole John Morrison-The Miz situation closely, then you should know what I’m talking about.

In case you aren’t familiar with the whole situation, I'll sum it up for you.

The Miz and Morrison started out as a tag team back in 2007 and won the belts a couple of times. Then The Miz got drafted to RAW, turned on John Morrison, hitting him with his signature move at the time of the Reality Check.

While The Miz went to RAW, Morrison seemed to be gaining momentum and success. He won the intercontinental title on three separate occasions and received a WWE heavy title match, which he lost.

The Miz however, was on RAW challenging John Cena numerous times and completely trashing his name, which made me start to like The Miz. But I'll give credit where credit is due: if it wasn’t for Cena, The Miz might not of repackaged his whole look and attitude.

Cena beat the Miz, forcing him to leave RAW. He then came back (unknown at the time) masked as the Calgary Kid facing Eugene in a contract on a pole match, with the winner getting a contract for RAW.

The "Calgary Kid" wins, takes off his mask, and reveals himself to be The Miz.

From then on, it seemed that they were really giving the Miz a huge push. Morrison was doing good at the time, but that would change.

Fast forward to the PPV Bragging Rights where The Miz & Morrison were set to face off the Miz from Raw and Morrison from Smackdown. A couple weeks leading up to the PPV, they brought back their famous segment, the "Dirt Sheet" where they were comparing themselves to the whole Shawn Michaels-Marty Jannetty situation.

Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty were originally a great tag team known as "the rockers" back in the mid 80s until Jannetty accidentally got Michaels eliminated in the 1991 Survivor Series match, which of course infuriated Michaels.

Brutus the Beefcake then had them on his Barbershop segment to try and get them to makeup, which they appeared to do until Michaels super kicked him and threw him through a plate glass window.

Michaels went on to win numerous championships, becoming the first ever grand slam champion, which means he's won every belt in the WWE at least once. He was in the very first ladder match, the very first "hell in a cell" match, and the very first elimination chamber match and went on to be selected to retire the great Ric Flair.

Then you have Marty Jannetty. While winning some tag team and intercontinental gold, his career went absolutely nowhere.

Now back to the Miz and Morrison. Each was saying the other was Jannetty. Well, the Miz went on to Bragging Rights to beat Morrison being the only superstar on RAW to win that night. He then went on to Survivor Series to captain a five man team in the traditional survivor series match to once again beat Morrison.

After that, things seemed to go up hill for the Miz and down hill for Morrison. Miz went on to defend his U.S Title numerous times, while Morrison lost his belt. The Miz recently won the undisputed tag team titles with The Big Show, and saw him holding more gold than anyone else in the WWE: three belts, world, and WWE tag and the U.S title.

While you have John Morrison, who, according to an article on here was supposed to be winning the world title soon, lost the elimination chamber match, lost his qualifying match for the Money In The Bank ladder match, and looks to not be in Wrestlemania at all, while I'd bet money The Miz is going to Wrestlemania to either defend the tag or U.S title.

So it seems that The Miz is going up and up while Morrison just seems to keep declining, making him the Marty Jennetty of the former tag team.

Now things could change as it took years for the whole Michaels-Jannetty outcome, but as of now, this is how it looks.
