Ranking The NXT Rookies
It has been 2 weeks into NXT, and we have now seen all the rookies show the outline of what they can do in the future. These rankings are based on looks, in-ring ability, in-ring charisma, mic skills, and overall gimmick.
David Otunga- In terms of potential, this man has surpassed even Daniel Bryan as the favorite to become a WWE star. His mic skills dominate all other rookies, his in-ring ability seems to be better than 2/3 of the WWE already, and his UFC-wannabee/ A-lister gimmick can get him far in the future. Plus, he almost carried Darren Young in their second match.
Daniel Bryan- We all knew he'd be in the top 2, but the reason he isn't number 1 is because his mic skills were very sub-par in the first episode, and because of various botches in both his matches.(was his falling off the ropes a botch?) However, he looked pretty great with Jericho minus the botches, but needs some look, personality, and gimmick changes if he wants to go further, even though I like his catchphrase (tap or snap). Maybe that's why they paired him with The Miz.
Wade Barrett- I might get a lot of heat for this one, but I really, really like this guy. He has a very noticeable accent, but unlike men like Sheamus or Mcintyre, it doesn't make your ears bleed, and could carry him in a promo. We didn't see what he could fully do in the ring, but he seemed to be able to move around well and had a various moveset. His look is his masterpiece though. He is a big man, and we know who likes big men, and has a champion look to him also.
Justin Gabriel: I like this guy based on what i've seen, but we haven't heard him on the mic yet. He is right behind Bryan in in-ring ability, and has a cool look to him, one that has that champion feel to it. However, whats with the South African gimmick, and how will that help him? He could easily rise to number 3 or even higher if his mic skills impress.
Darren Young: I'm being generous hear since this guy has been on air so much, because this guy annoys me greatly. First, he look like a fool, and I would be embarrassed to be a wrestling fan if this guy was WWE Champion. Second, his gimmick as a party boy is stupid as well. His in-ring skills aren't that bad, but cannot carry him in a match as well. The only hope for this guy is to be a henchman in the SES.
Heath Slater: From what i've heard, this guy has a mixed liking. Personally, I am not a fan. He look to friendly and harmless to be a real WWE superstar to me, and his celebration dances in the first episode looked awkward and out of place. His in-ring skills were pretty good, but not to make up for his failed look. By the way, what is his gimmick?
Skip Sheffield: This guy has not impressed me so far at all. His in-ring skills were the only thing that stood out, but if WWE would make him a star for that, why haven't they pushed Shelton Benjamin yet? I dont even know this guy's gimmick or why he's on NXT to begin with?
Michael Tarver: This man is just a watered down version of David Otunga and Wade Barret. He has a stupid instant knockout gimmick, and he still lost to Heath Slater! This guy has hardly shown any mic skills, or any promise at all. Maybe that's that's why they paired him with Carlito
