A middleweight bout between faltering contenders Michael Bisping and Dan Miller is under discussion to take place on the televised main card of UFC 114 on May 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. News of the bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.
Bisping (18-3) is 1-2 in his last three bouts, and is fresh off of a close unanimous decision loss to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 110 on Feb. 20. The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner has put together an 8-3 UFC record, scoring other notable Octagon wins over Eric Schafer, Elvis Sinosic, Matt Hamill, Chris Leben and Denis Kang in his previous bout; while suffering his only other UFC and career losses to Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans.
Prior to joining the UFC, Bisping competed for notable U.K. promotions such as Cage Rage and Cage Warriors Fighting Championships. He has finished 16 of his 18 career wins and holds other notable career wins over the likes of Ross Pointon and Alex Cook.
Miller (11-3) has lost his last two bouts against the likes of Chael Sonnen and most recently Demian Maia at UFC 109 last month. Prior to the losses, he was unbeaten in 10 fights, which included wins in his first three UFC bouts over Rob Kimmons, Matt Horwich and Jake Rosholt.
Miller has fought the majority of his four-year career on the east coast for notable promotions such as Reality Fighting, Cage Fury Fighting Championships, IFL and Ring of Combat. He has scored stoppages in eight of his 11 career wins, including seven coming by submission, and he holds other notable career wins over Ryan McGivern and John Howard.
Though not yet officially announced, UFC 114 is expected to be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between former UFC 205-lbs. champions and bitter rivals, Rashad Evans and Quinton Jackson. Other bouts expected to be featured on the main card include Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and John Hathaway vs. Diego Sanchez.
