24/7 Mayweather/Mosley Debuts on HBO April 10
According to a press release, HBO will debut 24/7 Mayweather/Mosley on Saturday April 10 (10-10:30 PM EST).
The seven-time Sports Emmy Award-winning reality franchise will return for its eighth installment with undefeated American and top pound-for-pound fighter Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and future Hall of Famer Sugar Shane Mosley as they prepare for their May 1 welterweight super fight in Las Vegas.
President of HBO Sports Ross Greenburg released the following statement, “We can’t wait to get the cameras rolling on Floyd and Shane as they prepare for this big event. We appreciate all the access and cooperation that we get from the boxers and their teams. We know the bar is set high and we are excited to meet the challenge.”
Episodes two and three of 24/7 MAYWEATHER/MOSLEY debut on subsequent Saturdays—April 17 (9:30-10 PM EST) and 24 (8:30-9 PM)—while the finale debuts Friday, April 30 (8:30-9 PM), just one night before the super showdown. All four episodes will have multiple replay dates on HBO, and the series will also be available on HBO On Demand.
Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs), originally from Grand Rapids, Mich. now resides in the Las Vegas area and has achieved major celebrity status and a flashy, flamboyant reputation as we seen in his previous three installments in the 24/7 series, where as the more reserved Mosley (46-5, 39 KOs), from Pomona, Calif. will be making his first starring appearance in 24/7.
Mosley was seen in a previous 24/7 De La Hoya/Mayweather where he was sparring with Oscar De La Hoya in preparation for his fight with Mayweather. More memorable was the scene where Mosley was providing his personal impressions on the fighting styles of several other boxing superstars such as Tito Trinidad, Mayweather, Winky Wright, and even himself.
This scene was one of the highlights of any true boxing fan of the 24/7 franchise and could very well be an indication that this may be the best 24/7 yet to come.
Mosley’s current top trainer Nazim Richardson will also be introduced and hopefully given the proper recognition that he deserves for revitalizing Mosley’s career and being the individual responsible for finding the plaster of paris substance in Antonio Margarito’s gloves before their fight.
The St. Petersburg Times has proclaimed, “The best sports reality show on television is HBO’s ‘24/7.’ ”
At the 2009 Sports Emmy® Awards, “24/7” was recognized with four Emmys® for production excellence, as well as receiving three Emmys® at the 2008 Sports Emmy® Awards.
On Saturday, May 1 at 9 PM (EST), HBO Pay-Per-View® presents “Mayweather vs. Mosley,” live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
