Fantasy Baseball: Value Win Options

Ryan LesterMar 1, 2010

So you didn’t land C.C. Sabathia or Roy Halladay. That’s OK, there are still plenty of value pitchers to help you rack up the wins.

Mark Buehrle, Chicago White Sox
He is often overlooked because of his lack of strikeouts. However, he consistently wins around 15 games with a sub-4.00 ERA and a solid WHIP. He’s a low risk, low reward player, but a nice addition to any fantasy staff.

Ted Lilly, Chicago Cubs
Assuming his shoulder is healthy, I see no reason why Lilly can’t pick up 13 or 14 wins for the Cubbies. He’s averaged 14.7 for them the past three years.

Derek Lowe, Atlanta Braves
Everyone is in love with the youngsters (Hanson, Jurrjens) and rightfully so. Despite not having the hype, Lowe is a good bet for 14-15 wins.

Andy Pettitte, New York Yankees
He’s another year older, but Pettitte keeps churning out 14+ win seasons. He’ll be even more overlooked this year because of the acquisition of Javier Vazquez.

Joe Saunders, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
Saunders quietly has 33 wins over the past two seasons.
