Owens, Denney and Reed Shown The Door By The Bills...YIKES!!

Brian MazurekFeb 28, 2010

I saw the handwriting on the wall for the Buffalo Bills not to re-sign Terrell Owens. It was a one-year public relations ploy to get the fans excited about the season.

Season ticket sales soared when Owens was signed and individual game tickets were gobbled up faster than a fat person would eat a hot  fudge sundae.

A great marketing tool since the Bills had nothing to market in 2009.

Getting Dick Jauron to sign on the dotted line for another three years really made me want to run to the ticket office, but the signing of Owens kind of made me think, "Maybe we want to win!"

But alas, were we "buffaloed" by the Bills. Owens was totally misused and under-utilized. His $6 million salary was nothing compared to the money Buffalo raked in off of season ticket sales and Owens jerseys.

So not re-signing Owens is nothing, but letting Josh Reed go and Ryan Denney really makes me scratch my head.

Granted, Reed isn't the best receiver, but he was an adequate third receiver and seemed to be a go-to guy on third down. Letting him go along with Owens really leaves Lee Evans on an island all by himself.

Poor Lee Evans...No protection anymore of a solid receiver to pull some coverage off him and definitely no quarterback to throw to him.

Do we believe James Hardy is the answer for Owens and/or Reed? Be realistic...NO!

Hardy has been injury-ridden since he joined the Bills and are we hoping he's the answer to our offensive woes? If yes, all I can say is OUCH!

Our defensive line isn't too bad but is Aaron Schoebel retires as expected, Ryan Denney would be a solid back-up at least.

I just hope the Bills have a huge marketing ploy in the works for 2010.

We already know they've raised ticket prices for 2010. Shame on you, Buffalo.

Do I want to spend my hard-earned money to see the likes of Trent Edwards, Brian Brohm, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Marshawn Lynch? Doubt it.

I give several players kudos for their work ethic and attitude...Fred Jackson, Donte Witner, "Poz" and Lee Evans. They deserve their money they get from guys like us who buy tickets.

But trying to sell me with a new head coach, a bunch of second-line players and a owner who doesn't care anymore, it's getting sickening.

Usually, when a media guide comes out, the team will put their best player on the cover. Who would the Bills' try and make their poster boy? Probably Fred Jackson, Brian Moorman or Rian Lindell. Scary thought, huh?

The Bills teased us by saying they had a sit-down interview with Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clauson. He's not going to be there at number nine and if he was, Buffalo won't take him.

But it sure looks the marketing ploy has all ready begun.
