The Verdict: NFL Combine Results Don't Mean A Thing.
My first question I would like to pose to the reader is" who the hell is Jack Thompson"? Don't know do you? Jack Thompson was the highest rated quarterback coming out of college the same year as Comeback Joe Montana. Where is he now? Who knows chances are he's probally leading manager of the Wal-Mart nearest you. Poor Joe was the 82nd pick in the 3 round! We all know what Joe went on to achieve in the NFL,
Did you know Emmit Smith was drafted 17th overall in the first round of the draft mostly due to his 4.7 40 yard dash time at the combine? A 17th round pick went on to hold the
To say he went on to be a NFL Hall of Famer would be an understatement.
Next is one of my favorite Quarterbacks Tom Brady. Slow Foot Brady ran the 40 yard dash Combine time was clocked at 5.23! In reward of his performance Tom was drafted in 6th round as the 199th pick. Very disrespectful to say the least, Brady went on to overcome all of that while becoming
He isn't in the Hall of Fame yet! He's still currently adding to his resume.
To make along story short many of the NFL's brightest stars, many of its longest resumes are generated from players who faired poorly or satisfacatory at the NFL Combine.
It is not a fair assumption that a player that crushes the competition at the Combine and Pro Day will go on to have a illustrious career. I think fate holds the golden key to any Hall of Fame career. And so far fate has dealt we NFL fans plenty of surprises dont you think.
