The injury bug has once again caused change to the upcoming 'UFC on Versus 1' card in March. UFC newcomer Darren Elkins has agreed to step in for 12-fight UFC veteran Spencer Fisher and face Duane Ludwig on the event's unaired prelims.

The nature and severity of Fisher's injury is not yet known, and there is no timetable for his return.

Elkins is currently on a two-fight winning streak, with his most recent win coming over UFC veteran Gideon Ray at Hoosier Fight Club 1 in November. He enters the Octagon with a near perfect 9-1 MMA record, with his only career loss coming against Ted Worthington at Duneland Classic 6 this past September.

Elkins has competed for other notable promotions during his three-year career, such as; C3, Bodog Fight and Total Fight Challenge. He has finished seven of his nine career wins and holds a notable career win over veteran Pat Curran.

Ludwig (19-10), who will be competing in front of his hometown, is fresh off of a first round submission loss against Jim Miller at UFC 108 on January 2, in a fight he took on short notice. Prior to the loss, he was 3-1 in his past four fights to earn a callback with the promotion. His only loss over that stretch came against the undefeated Lyle Beerbohm at Strikeforce Challengers II: "Villasenor vs. Cyborg" in June.

Ludwig sports a 2-1 UFC record, scoring Octagon wins over Genki Sudo and Jonathan Goulet

UFC on Versus 1 takes place on March 21 at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Co., and is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Jon Jones and Brandon Vera.
