Brock Lesnar: "Maybe the Next Beat Down Will Shut Him Up."
According to MMAMania.com, UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar talked to KFAN Sports Radio 1130 about his rival, Frank Mir , and the potential of a third battle between the two top heavyweights in the UFC.
Here's what Lesnar had to say:
"You know I don't know what he [Frank Mir] thought...he's still trying to pull his foot out of his mouth, and when you say something like that and your wife has to go out and apologize for you, you know you pissed somebody off.
I think his wife made the apology before he did probably. But you know, in this sport of fighting...fighting has come so far in such a short amount of time. We want to perceive ourselves as athletes and get the respect of the general public.
Yeah, it was out of line, but in the fighters mentally, I don't want to go in the Octagon and kill somebody, but I do want to do whatever I can to win. And maybe that's what he was saying, I don't know...But the guy should probably just focus on the task in front of him, which is Shane Carwin, because if Shane Carwin beats his ass he won't be fighting me.
Hopefully he gets past Shane Carwin so I can put another beat down on him. For a guy to take an ass whopping like the last I gave him and for him to get up and keep running his mouth. You know I just got to laugh at it...But I am truly hoping that Frank wins this fight so it sets us up for July, and maybe the next beat down will shut him up."
Apparently Lesnar isn't offended by what Mir said about "breaking his neck", and he appears calm, cool, and collected. I never thought I would use those words to describe Brock Lesnar, but than again, I never thought a fighter in the UFC would wish another fighter dead.
Some might find it a bit ironic that Lesnar finds fault in Mir for not presenting himself as a respectful athlete after his own now famous meltdown at UFC 100.
It seems to me that Brock is holding in all his anger and frustration, just so he can unleash it on Mir when they step into the Octagon for the third time. If these two do indeed fight for a third time in July, you can expect to see fireworks, just like in their previous two battles.
Another way to look at what Lesnar said: Does he want Mir to win because he thinks Shane Carwin has a better shot at taking his belt?
I personally don't think that's what it is, but some fans might. Whether you're a Lesnar fan or a Mir fan, you can't deny how badly you want to see these two men throw hands again. It should be more interesting than ever to see how this trilogy ends.
We shall wait for more news to unfold in the Lesnar Vs Mir saga, and hope that these two will meet again in the Octagon.
