Will The Marriage Between Favre & The Vikings Continue 4 Another Year?

Ryan GFeb 27, 2010
Minnesota, its fans, team ownership, players, coaches, towel boys, ESPN, the NFL, and just about every other person not a Packer fan or Favre hater wants Brett to come back for a second season in Purple and Gold. Heck, Ed Werder, Chris Mortensen, and the entire ESPN network live and die by the guys breath, word, step, and throw. They wouldn't know what to do if Favre didn't waffle, leak the occasional text message, retire, and unretire each offseason.

As it currently stands, Favre has 2 regular billboards, 1 digital billboard, 1 full-color newspaper ad, 2 songs, millions of articles, millions of pieces of fan mail, weeks worth of offseason analysis dedicated solely to him, continued endorsements with Sears and Wrangler, a contract waiting that pays $13 million, and the option to make even more with one call to ownership. To top it off, Favre will be the toast of the new Jay Leno show next Thursday, March 4th, only hours before the new NFL season officially begins. No players ego in the history of sport has ever been stroked this much. Not Jordan, not Shaq, not Kobe, not Jeter. Do not think for one moment that Brett is not absolutely LOVING every second of it!

Brett is polarizing. Brett is an icon. Brett wants and needs to be loved. I can only assume the man goes through an ungodly amount of texts daily from family, friends, teammates, and coaches asking him about his future. "Hey Brett, it's Zygi. I left my private jet at the Hattiesburg airport for you to use. Yes, that new riding tractor was from me. I hope you like it. Have you thought about next season? Oh yeah, your daughters new pony is on the way too! We really miss you in Minnesota. By the way, you are freaking awesome. Love Zygi." Zygi follows that text with another 15-20 each day. Next text, "Hey old man, its the Chillmeister. I was reviewing game tape and you were right. You were right every time. I went back to each of the bazillion times you audibled and each time it was the right call. You are so much better than me at calling plays. I wish I could be like you. You need to come back and teach me how to call an offense. You are freaking awesome. Love Chili." You get the idea. How could you NOT love this if you were Brett?!?!

No way Brett retires. He is coming back... right after Vikings break training camp in Mankato this fall. And Brett's show on Leno? It will only be the highest rated Tonight Show episode ever! Move over Obama, Brett is coming to save the day.
