LIVERPOOL FC: What The Reds Fans Must Learn From Blue's Waterloo ?

Kaustav BoseFeb 27, 2010

"He that is proud of riches is a fool. For if he is exalted above his neighbors because he has more GOLD, how much inferior is he to a gold mine."                                                                                   Jeremy Taylor

A saying that could well define Chesea's Waterloo at the battle of rich brats at "Standstill" "BRIDGE". Chelsea are a strong team nevertheless, and lets look at their records this season...Umm very very promising, other than a few shortfalls here and there Chelsea have more or less managed a very good season under Ancelotti. However that was until the last week of february..as it stands now Chelsea too has had their share of defeats and that too three in four matches and against Everton, Internazionale and Manchester City. Although it would be really foolish to rule out Chelsea's bid for the League title just yet, as they still lead the leaders by a solitary point, the RED fans who are going all out on their Coach and players should still learn a lesson from this.

Qualitative words from experts may speak lots, however quantitative results make the all important difference. Manchester City completed an absolute massscre of the pensioners at their own den which has been such an impregnable castle for them. With this victory Manchester City becomes the second club in two years to complete a double against the so formidable blues. The team which achieved that feat last year and halted Chelsea's enviable unbeaten home record and also do a double on them was Liverpool fc.. A team which had much lesser injury woes, much lesser "bad luck" going their way..however it was also a team that spent much lesser than Manchester city and still under the ever-so criticised Rafa Benitez.

At the risk of being criticised for looking at the consequence of just one match, it can  still be said that Chelsea's hopes of winning the league did take on a beating by the outcome of the draw. However the point that I am making here is that this was Chelsea's fifth defeat in the season as compared to eight by the Reds and Chelsea are the leaders (!!) having almost no injury to their key players and having top form for the majority of the season..this competitive has been the nature of the English Premier League this season.. Comical as it might seem all those team right from Wigan to Aston Villa to Man City have spent heavily this season on their  team building., City even spending more than the Blues (Everton being the only exception)..and even the mighty Manchester united have been taken all the way, by both Chelsea and Manchester City..The Red Devils managing to beat City after highly controversial added time extension at Old Trafford in the league..

With almost no such expenditure the Reds still manage to fight on, with their best players still out of form, if not match fitness..and although Manchester City has gone a few points clear of us in the fight as of now wouldn't it be fair to assume that the battle for the Top four is far from over..because going by city's performance , it has been very very fluctuating to say the least and after having gone down to stoke and hull within a months' time doesn't exactly say that they are going to lead this for long..

The Battle for the Top four is definitely on..and should be on for quite some time, should some of our players hit form and the team starts winning..These are tough times however and the players, coach and everybody needs support keeping away all their differences ..this has been quite a different and dramatic Premier league and it will be foolish to conclude anything just yet, all the Top four positions are up for grabs in a way, the Top three can rearrange and the fourth is still open for a four-way battle..
