GSP, Dan Hardy, The Next Generation
Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy is set to square off against the always dangerous and dominating welterweight champion, GSP. Everyone in their right state of mind is expecting the champ to come in and wipe the floor with the number one contender, rightfully so. Considering what the champ has done to challengers such as, John Fitch, Josh Koscheck and Thiago Alves. Everyone is writing the up and coming Hardy off, besides Dan Hardy and myself.
I know St. Pierre is considerably the best pound for pound fighter in the world, but the UK has been dominating at an alarming pace as of late... UFC 105, only James Wilkes of the UK lost..Hardy beat Swick around the ring, then again at UFC 108..when "Semtex" destroyed Dustin Hazelette! The UK and Team Rough House are real, people should take notice of it.
GSP, amazing athlete, really classy guy that is fantastic for the sport. Dan Hardy, Cocky/Confident new-comer that likes to get in the head of opponents. He is also good for the sport. Trash-talk sets up fights like these. The classy champ vs the cocky young gun. It's like something from a movie. While many still argue that Hardy does not deserve the title shot, I disagree, as does the champ.
The UFC is about consistency. Hardy 4-0, Koscheck 3-2 in his last five bouts. Who is the president more likely going to give the title shot to? It's about marketing. It would be kind of hard to sell Koscheck vs St Pierre II. After the way St Pierre dominated Kos in their first match. The UFC is about marketing. If it weren't, I highly doubt Kimbo would be fighting in the organization. Hardy is the first british fighter to fight for a title, British fans will tune in and ratings will sky-rocket. If Hardy manages to pull the upset, cha-ching! More money for Mr. Dana White.
Everyone knows what will happen. The champ is going to take the challenger down and ground and pound, but as Hardy has stated..."It's going to be hard to keep my left hand off your chin for twenty-five minutes"
"He's an athlete, I'm a fighter"- Dan Hardy
