Tony Kornheiser Suspended For Remarks About Hannah Storm
If you watch Pardon The Interruption over the next two weeks, you will notice a distinct absence of a certain comb-over sitting next to Michael Wilbon. Why? Because Tony Kornheiser did what he always does; he made a mildly offensive remark that the majority of the audience thought was hilarious. Unfortunately, ESPN didnโt find it as funny and suspended him for two weeks.
Most people arenโt aware of what he said because ESPN covers these things up better than the government covers up alien activity. He basically criticized Hannah Stormโs clothing on Sports Center, which ESPN deemed inappropriate. The funny thing, he was dead on. The picture above is what Storm was wearing when Kornheiser made his remark. This is what he said:

โHannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. Sheโs got on red go-go boots and a catholic school plaid skirt โฆ way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now.โ [She's 47.] โSheโs got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body โฆ I know sheโs very good, and Iโm not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I wonโt โฆ but Hannah Storm โฆ come on now! Stop! What are you doing? โฆ Sheโs what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point.โ
Could you describe it any better? I think not. As a guy in college, Iโm not exactly complaining with the way she dresses, but this is just so true. Hell, people have been making these comments privately for months. If Tony reads this, he should know that I am so very glad he has continues to walk the line of offensive despite the fact that ESPN is about as uptight as Gary Williams (that man terrifies me).ย
As terrific as it was, there is a downside of the suspension and it has nothing to do with money. It is Dan LeBetard. Kornheiserโs suspension almost guarantees his appearance for those two weeks. I would rather watch a white wall than watch him talkโฆat least I wouldnโt get dumber if I stared at a wall. The guy has no half-way decent analysis ever. He thinks Wilbon and Kornheiser are joking around when they give him crap, but they arenโt. They know he is an idiot.
Overall though, this suspension worries me. If this is a suspendable offense, then if Iโm lucky enough to get a job with ESPN, I give myself three days.
