Could These Five Arsenal Players on Loan Make the Arsenal Team Next Season?

Callum D'SouzaFeb 24, 2010

Arsenal have always had a wide range of talented youngsters coming through their academy or arriving from Europe as tender teenagers.

After a few years on a vigorous training scheme, the youngsters are entered into the fray of reserve and youth football. Then when on the fringe of the first team they are sent out on loan to gain vital experience and hone in on their skills.

This season is no exception.

A handful of talented teenagers were sent around England to develop their skills. So which players are capable of breaking into the Arsenal squad next season?

1. Håvard Nordtveit

Considered one of the best young defensive prospects in Europe, Nordtveit has spent the last couple of seasons on loan showing off his defensive attributes.

The 19-year-old was signed from Norwegian side FK Haugesand in 2007. The Norwegian centre immediately excelled and was promoted to reserves captain.

Nordveit is a strong and physical defender much like Thomas Vermaelen. The youngster has gained valuable experience from his current loan spell at German side FC Nurnberg.

Expect to see Harvard Nordtveit making his Arsenal debut next season.

2. Henri Lansbury

Two loan spells have seen Henri Lansbury develop into a supreme attacker. The 19-year-old rose up through the ranks of the Arsenal academy and performed strongly in Arsenal's youth and reserve squads.

The English youngster then went on loan to Scunthorpe in the latter half of the 2008/2009 season, where he showed his true potential as an attacking midfielder. Lansbury displayed his pace, power, balance, and tricks.

Now on a season loan deal with Watford, the teenager continues to impress and should become a valuable member of the Arsenal line up.

3. Jay Simpson

Jay Simpson had a stellar loan spell at Milwall during 2007/2008. His efforts were rewarded with the PFA League One Player of the Year.

When he arrived back at Arsenal he made his first team debut in the League Cup against Sheffield United and scored in his next appearance for the club.

Simpson was then loaned to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League—a huge challenge in which the 21-year-old performed impressively, scoring a Premier League goal.

Now currently at QPR, Simpson is proving to be a handful against defenders and is likely to break into the Arsenal squad next season.

4. Gavin Hoyte

The brother of former Arsenal defender Justin, Hoyte is currently on loan at Brighton.

Although he isn't getting too many opportunities, the former reserve captain has shown potential to be a top defender. After making his senior debut and Premier League début last season, Hoyte is eager to break into the Arsenal squad.

His versatility, strength, leadership, and pace make it very likely that he will make the team.

5. Kyle Bartley

A vital part of Arsenal's youth success last season, Kyle Bartley has proven to be a great leader and immense defender.

The imposing centre is currently at Sheffield United and has already shown strong defensive traits. Bartley is another defender capable of taking over the role that will soon be left by William Gallas.

There are also the likes of promising young stars Mark Randall, Sanchez Watts, Rhys Murphy, and Gilles Sunu, but all are yet to receive many opportunities to shine.

The likes of Jack Wilshere and Wojciech Szczęsny have already shown they will gel with the Arsenal roster.

So, could these five make the Arsenal side next season?
